The International Chamber of Commerce is the largest organization of its type in the world. There are over one hundred counties which are members of the International Chamber of Commerce. They are a powerful and influential organization which provides information for member countries, including trends in commerce and safety issues, such as recalls.
The International Chamber of Commerce was created in 1919 in order to promote business around the world. The organization also promotes trade between member countries and investments which would cross international borders.
The organization is structured in a way that allows all members to have input, but there is a governing body. There is a commission which must first adopt policy and then the policy must be adopted by the executive board. In meetings which are held twice a year, the policies are reviewed, and once the policy has passed through the proper procedural process, it becomes the official stance of the International Chamber of Commerce.
The British Chamber of Commerce works in a similar manner as the International Chamber of Commerce. For example, there are British Chambers of Commerce which work with specific countries in order to promote the exports and imports between those two countries. There will also be official members which seek to enact policies which promote the business between the two countries, or between any number of countries. The British Chamber of Commerce seeks to foster relations with other countries through business.
